Is VMware the Solution?

One of the first tasks I have as Director of IT is to optimize the use of the current resources without spending any money on equipment and licenses. The solution, VMware ESXi. For those of you stuck in the 90′s, VMware is the leading software solution for creating and managing virtual machines.

Virtual Machines allow multiple servers to reside on one host system. Normally, VMware is installed on top of a host OS. That is not the case with the new ESXi version of the software, it is installed directly onto the hardware. You heard me, no need for an OS. The software is administered through a menu driven interface that I imagine is similar to that of the intel BIOS.
